What are the top 3 reasons to travel to this island?
1) Its landscape
A gem of an island, a few miles of the French and Italian coasts, this island gets its nickname -the Beauty Isle- partly due to its marvellous and majestic landscape: from its incredible sandy beaches with turquoise blue water to its jagged mountain tops, the variety of scenery is breath-taking! Being aware of this beautiful environment, the Corsican and the French government decided to create in 1972 a Nature Park (Parc Naturel Regional de Corse) that makes up for nearly half of the island’s territory! The best place to enjoy great hikes!
2) Its lifestyle
Slow, relaxed and authentic: three ways to describe the insular lifestyle in Corsica. The Corsicans are very proud of their roots, culture and history and have always done the utmost to protect their unique identity. Thanks to these efforts, you will still hear many people (young or older) talk Corsican in the streets as it was reintroduced at school, you will still hear the famous Corsican chants (polyphonic chants) during local festivities and many other unique aspects of their identity. If you are looking for a walking and cycling holidays in an authentic environment, Corsica should be on your bucket list!
3) Its food
Food is a big deal when discovering somewhere new and let us tell you that if you decide to go to Corsica, you will not be disappointed. Its famous charcuterie, considered as one of the best worldwide thanks to their traditional recipes and their chestnut fed porks, its cheeses mostly made of sheep and goat milk and of course its chestnut made specialities, included in many recipes!
