Our new Corsican tours: Self-guided walking and cycling tours in the "Ile of Beauty"!
Corsica, a unique destination in Europe and a top destination for hiking and cycling holidays!
Being an agency specialised in walking and cycling tours, guided or self-guided, we have decided to create new tours in one of the top French and European destinations: Corsica!
As exciting as beautiful, Corsica makes perfect sense when you think about it: a droplet of earth in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, a mountainous landscape, an endemic fauna and flora and of course an ever-present and unique identity! Considered by many (us included) as the most beautiful island in the Med’ sea, Corsica is the perfect hiking and cycling destination, if you are looking to mix active holidays with the discovery of an incredible destination.
Why is Corsica so great for hiking and cycling holidays?
The variety of terrain and landscape makes this island a top spot for these activities. Incredible mountains, valleys, natural and preserved sites are what you will be discovering by foot or on your bike! Fun fact, nearly half of the island is a Nature Park! Some of the most incredible sites to see once travelling there are, for example, the amazing Calanches of Piana, the Gulf of Porto, the Scandola Reserve, the Restonica Valley, the Monte Cinto – the highest summit in Corsica – and many more! The island is a concentration of different landscapes, going from white sandy beaches and flat land areas to high mountains with Alpine weather conditions, and they make it a wonderful destination for amateur to hard-core hikers! And the same goes for cyclists!
What makes this island so unique?
In one word: Corsicans. The Corsicans are a proud bunch of people (there are only 330 000 inhabitants, making it the least populated region of Metropolitan France), proud of their unique identity and history. Their customs, way of life, gastronomy – the Corsican charcuterie is known to be one of the best! – and their language, Corsu, that will hear and see everywhere. Treasuring their identity has helped them share and convey "Corsu" to the younger generations: in Corsica, French and Corsican are taught at school! Thanks to our itineraries, that we have created from scratch, you will discover incredible villages and towns such as Corte, Calvi, Porto or Ajaccio - birthplace of Napoleon - that have had an immense impact over Corsica and its unique history!
