SAINT REMY DE PROVENCE : on Van Gogh's footsteps
At the foot of the majestic setting of the Alpilles mountains - between Avignon and Arles - Saint Rémy de Provence is a charming small city of artist.
The town - that witnessed the birth of Nostradamus - is very lively and typical with its narrow winding streets, shady squares welcoming restaurant terraces and elegant shops, beautiful restored mansions of the Renaissance and the 18th century, and the remains of the Roman city Glanum.
Van Gogh painted over 150 painting during his stay in 1889, all of them featuring this very special light of Provence.
