Provence: cycling in true luxury
The cherry orchards and vineyards of Ventoux. The perched villages of the Luberon. The olive groves in Van Gogh's Alpilles. Cycle along the back roads of Provence while staying in its most opulent and sumptuous accommodations. And for this holiday we've spared no expense: the most elegant and luxurious hotels in each of the beautiful regions you'll explore. Pure decadence in one of the world's premiere cycling destinations.

Day 1 : Nestled at the foot of Mont Ventoux
Mazan
The trip starts with a private transfer from Avignon to Mazan, a town set at the foot of Provence’s highest mountain, Mont Ventoux. Settle into your hotel, the elegant Château de Mazan, for the next three nights. Dinner included and Night in Mazan

Day 2 : Below Provence’s highest mountain
Mazan > Beaumes de Venise > Mazan
- About 40km cycling -
You cycle from your hotel and towards the foot of Ventoux, on small roads lined by orchards and vines. You visit the town of Bédoin, start of the infamous Tour de France climb of Mont Ventoux (you don't need to climb it though!). A bit farther is the village of Crillon le Brave, a handful of medieval homes set atop a hill, from where the views of the plains are wide-sweeping. You continue your ride to Beaumes de Venise, known for its sweet muscat wines, before returning to Mazan for the night. Dinner on your own. Night in Mazan.

Day 3 : Cherry orchards and vineyards
Mazan > Gordes
- About 45km cycling -
From Mazan you head southwards and through the heart of the countryside you reach the pretty town of Pernes les Fontaines, whose centre is filled by no less than 40 old stone fountains. A bit farther is Isle sur la Sorgue, a town completely surrounded by the clear waters of the Sorgue river and whose quays are lined with antique shops and cafés. Your day’s journey ends with a spectacular climb to the village of Gordes, perched high on the rock, where your hotel sits at the very top. Settle in to your sumptuous 5* hotel Bastide de Gordes for the next two nights. Acces to the hotel spa is included this evening to soak your cycling legs. Dinner included and night in Gordes.

Day 4 : The most beautiful villages in France
Gordes > Roussillon > Gordes
- About 50km cycling -
From Gordes you head eastward through the rolling hills, laden with thyme and lavender fields. Up on the hill in front of you is Roussillon, a village painted in colourful reds, orange, and yellows from the former ochre quarry below. Visit Roussillon before reaching the heart of the Luberon, exploring the villages of Bonnieux and Lacoste, the last crowned by the ruins of the Marquis de Sade’s castle. Return to Gordes for your second night. Dinner on your own. Night in Gordes.

Day 5 : Olive groves underneath Les Baux
Gordes > Les Baux
- About 45km cycling -
A short transfer takes you and your bicycles across the Durance River. You cycle on quiet roads and quickly reach the foothills of the Alpilles mountains, blanketed by olive groves, vines, and sunflower fields, passing lone farmhouses and cypress trees. You pass the quiet village of Eygalières and then reach St. Rémy: an artists’ village where Van Gogh spent the last year of his life. You then climb up the heart of the mountain on a narrow and windy road, and at the pass you have a majestic view to the south, including the village of Les Baux. Settle into your hotel, the grandiose 5* Oustau de Baumanière for two nights. Dinner and night in Les Baux de Provence.

Day 6 : Roman city of Arles
Les Baux > Arles > Les Baux
- About 45km cycling -
You cycle around the base of the Alpilles mountains, along shaded streets lined with old villas, and through unassuming towns. You visit Maussane before reaching the plains, taking you to the Roman city of Arles, complete with its coliseum and other Roman monuments. Dinner on your own. Night in Les Baux.

Day 7 : Au revoir!
Les Baux > Avignon
Transfer after breakfast to Avignon. End of trip in Avignon.
