| Wines and paths of the Rhône Valley |
The paths of the Monts du Vaucluse are lined with aromatic herbs, and meander through forests, orchards, and to unknown Provençal hamlets. Your journeys then take you through some of the most reputed vineyards in the Côtes du Rhône, on paths hovering high above the valley and through the prestigious estates where Grenache, Syrah, or sweet Muscat flourish. |

| Day 1 : The stunning village of Venasque
Avignon>Venasque
Make your own way to Avignon and direct transfer to Venasque(34km, 40 mn). Perched in the Monts du Vaucluse, you will be welcomed in your hotel in the town of Venasque, listed as “one of the most beautiful villages in France”. Dinner and night in Venasque.
Day 2 : Seldom-used paths to explore tiny hamlets
Venasque>Le Beaucet>La Roque sur Pernes> Venasque
- walking time about 5 hours, 30 minutes +500m/-500m
Today’s circular walk takes you into the untamed hills of the Monts du Vaucluse, above the cultivated plains of cherry orchards and truffle oaks, and to two perched villages: Le Beaucet and la Roque sur Pernes. Explore their cobbled and quiet streets, devoid of tourists, with centuries’ old fountains and village gates. Back in Venasque you can visit the village’s baptistery, dating from the 6th century, one of the oldest religious monuments in Provence. Dinner and night in Venasque.
Day 3 : Singing fountains and reputed red wines
Venasque>Pernes les fontaines>Beaumes de Venise>Gigondas
- walking time about 3 hours +300m/-100m
Short transfer to Pernes les Fontaines. You will have some free time to visit this historic capital of Papal Provence, with its 40 fountains, its Romanesque church, its mansions. Another short transfer takes you to the village of Beaumes de Venise and its vineyards of Muscat grapes and olive orchards. You pass a beautiful Romanesque chapel as you begin to ascend into the renown vineyards of Gigondas. Your hotel, Les Florets, is nestled at the foot of an astonishing set of limestone cliffs called the Dentelles de Montmirail. Dinner and night in Gigondas.
Day 4 : High above the Rhône Valley, hidden in the vines
Gigondas>Séguret
- walking time about 3 hours, 15 minutes +250m/-350m
Today you climb into the foothills of the Dentelles de Montmirail, a playground of jagged white cliffs overlooking the Rhône Valley. Your paths are lined with the gnarled vines of Gigondas, with the silhouette of Mont Ventoux, Provence’s largest mountain, looming in the background. You finish along a quaint countryside track into the village of Séguret, listed as “one of the most beautiful villages in France”, with its old village gates and cobbled paths, its centuries’ old stone homes and renowned artisans.
